Special Olympic athletes bring home medals

Special Olympian Shannon Moore of Wayne County and North Carolina at the Southeast Regional Powerlifting Invitational held in Macon, Ga. He won a gold medal in the bench press, a silver in the dead-lift and a silver in the all-around competition.
Several other athletes participated doubles, singles and team events at the bowling state games in Raleigh.
In singles competition, Diane Jordan and Robert Walker won gold medals. Alan Jenkins and Charlie Nail won silver medals. Paul Edwards and Jonathan Delano brought home fifth place ribbons and Jay Zambelli a sixth place ribbon.
In doubles competition, the team of Lane Turner and Heather Pardue and the team of Shannon Moore and Kevin Langston won gold medals. The team of Robert Benson and Miguel Sheffield won a silver medal, and the team of Melissa Stanford and Erica Walderman took fourth place.
Dorothy Wilson, Jenifer Cruz, Rhonda Barwick and Ryan Hood's team won a silver medal.
The athletes were coached by Don Jenkins, Charlotte Jenkins, Dorothy Moore and Debi Walderman.
