Commissioner Keen receives ECU Alumni Award

Wayne County Commissioner Steve Keen has been presented an "Honorary Alumni Award" from East Carolina University.
Keen is a member of the board of directors for The Little Bank. He is a member of the Wayne County Planning Board and the ECU Educational Foundation's Executive Committee and is a season ticket holder for Pirates football, men's basketball and baseball. He has been a member of the Pirate Club for 23 years.
Keen, a Navy veteran, is a past member of the Wayne County Military Affairs Committee. He is a York Rite Mason with the Goldsboro Masonic Lodge and is a past member of the Wayne County Economic Development Commission, both the Wayne County and the Greenville-Pitt County Chambers of Commerce, and is an avid supporter of the Pirate Club.
He also is a member of the VanSant Society and the Order of the Cupola.
For the past 12 years Keen has been a football official with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. One of his most recent duties in officiating was at the 3AA football state championship in Chapel Hill.
Since the opening of Adam's Auto Wash car wash in Goldsboro in 1983 and the Greenville store in 1986, Keen has to served his community through his business, providing donations to schools, churches, fire departments, police stations and giving ECU alumni discounted car washes.
In addition to founding the Auto Wash, Keen is also the founder and owner of Adair LLC, a real estate development venture, as well as owner of Atlantic Coast Deliveries, a yacht delivery company. Keen is master captain, having a license from the United States Coast Guard allowing him to captain vessels up to 100 tons along the east coast.
Keen is volunteer for the Wayne County Guardian ad Litem program, leads weekly worship services at the Brian Center and Sterling House in Goldsboro, and is a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Rosewood First Baptist Church.
He is also the parent of two East Carolina graduates.
