The Goldsboro Christmas Parade, postponed until this Saturday because of bad weather last week, isn't the only holiday happening that will take place downtown that day.

Saturday is also the day for Jingle in the Park, a festival sponsored at Herman Park by the city's Parks and Recreation Department.

City officials and the Goldsboro Jaycees, who sponsor the annual parade, have decide to meld the two events together, pushing back the starting time for the park festivities an hour.

The parade will start on Center Street at 4 p.m.

At 6 p.m., Jingle in the Park will begin, with Mayor Al King switching on the Christmas lights adorning the 40-foot magnolia tree adjacent to the Park House.

Entertainment will be provided by the Eastern Wayne High School Choir, the St. Luke Methodist Church Bell Choir, Patricia Grantham, the Christstar Community Theater Group, and the Charles B. Aycock High School Band.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are expected to arrive at 6:20 p.m.

Other activities will include crafts at Rudolph's Barn, a flashlight candy cane hunt for children ages 4 to 12 (children must bring their own flashlights) and sleigh rides throughout the evening.
