The Raising Achievement and Closing Gaps Task Force Information Session and Kitchen Table Conversation that was canceled due to weather Nov. 12, has been rescheduled for Thursday.
The information session and Kitchen Table Conversation are open to parents who have a child attending one of the six WCPS schools located in southern Wayne County. The schools include Brogden Middle, Brogden Primary, Carver Elementary, Grantham School, Mount Olive Middle and Southern Wayne High.
The event will follow the format of past Raising Achievement and Closing Gaps Task Force Information Sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to hear answers to pre-submitted parent questions that address topics ranging from academic issues to facility concerns. The event will not be an open forum.
For the Kitchen Table Conversation, participants will be invited to join others around the "kitchen table" to discuss how parents and schools can work together to "empower the male student." Results from each table will be collected and compiled to be later shared with participants, district administrators, and Board of Education members. Once compiled, the results will also be posted online at the district's Web site, www.waynecountyschools.org.
The event will be held at the Evangelical Fellowship Center, located at 120 S. Center Street in Mount Olive, and will last from 6 until 8:15 p.m.
