Animal shelter damaged
An employee of the Wayne County Animal Adoption Center found bullet holes in the building on Monday morning when he reported to work, Goldsboro police reports show. Adoption center employee Wayne Benton of Snow Hill told Goldsboro police he found a spent round on the floor when he opened the building on Monday. Police documented about $200 in damages to the interior of the building, the report shows.
Coke syrup stolen
Ten boxes of Coca-Cola syrup were stolen from the Coca-Cola distributor on South George Street after a break-in there sometime over the weekend, a Goldsboro police report shows. A drink cooler was damaged with dents and scratches and the suspects apparently made off with the syrup, worth an estimated $300, police said.
Armed robbery, assault
A Pikeville man was robbed of $55 cash by an acquaintance who approached him at a gas station, asked for a cigarette, then pulled a gun on him, town police said. David Beasley of Kiowa Place said he was exiting the BP gas station in the 1800 block of North Berkeley Boulevard when a man he knows as "Mike" approached him early Tuesday morning. After asking for a cigarette, the acquaintance reportedly struck Beasley in the face with the handgun, knocking him to the ground, according to the report. The victim reported that after he fell to the ground, two other suspects began assaulting him and took his money, police said. The suspect is described as a black male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a heavy build and wearing a black jacket. The suspect left in a black vehicle, according to the report.
