Two men were badly injured in a shootout outside a Goldsboro club early Saturday morning, police said.
Around 2 a.m., a gun battle erupted in the parking lot of Party Central, on Corporate Drive off of Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro police operations Maj. Mike Hopper said.
Derrick Raymont Best, of Mimosa Street, was taken by ambulance to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, Hopper said.
The other victim, Qushawn Mondrell Broadhurst, was admitted to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery, according to police reports.
Hopper said that four cars sustained damage from gunfire in the incident, which occurred around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, the major said.
"There was quite a bit of gunfire exchanged," Hopper said.
Hopper said he had not spoken with the lead investigator in the case, and was unsure of any motivation for the gunfight. The police major said he was not aware of any suspects being sought at this point.
The major said that Broadhurst and Best, the victims, were not helpful to police when interviewed about what occurred outside the club.
"Both victims were not cooperating with law enforcement at the time," Hopper said.
The conditions of both men were unavailable at press time.
