Wayne County's got a lot of talent

Northeast Elementary second-grader Mikayla Rackley performs a ballet dance routine to the song "Rainbow Connection."

Students in grades K-5 from schools across Wayne County participated Thursday in the talent competition at the Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair.

Categories included vocal solo, instrumental solo, dance solo, novelty act, vocal group, dance group, novelty group, instrumental group and chorus. Winners hailed from a variety of schools.

There were students playing the piano, the guitar, the violin, performing ballet, demonstrating karate, and singing everything from "Puff the Magic Dragon," to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."

Students in grades 6-8 will compete today, starting at 4 p.m. in the entertainment arena at the fairgrounds. Students in grades 9-12 also will show off their talents, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the same venue.
