The deadline for nominations for the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone Award has been extended until Nov. 2.

The Cornerstone Award recognizes annually an individual, living or deceased, who has truly been a "cornerstone" for this county.

A few criteria are: Long-term continuous service and dedication to the citizens of Wayne County; that the recipient has made a significant impact on the overall betterment to the area; and that he or she is considered part of the foundation of the area.

The recipient's accomplishments may be in business, education, government or in any other area.

The award recipient(s) may be an individual or a couple. If a couple have performed outstanding services together, each might be awarded a plaque.

The nomination form and detailed criteria for the award can be picked up at the chamber office at 308 N. William St. or downloaded from the Web site www.waynecountychamber.com.

The Cornerstone Award will be presented at the chamber's annual banquet in January.
