Goldsboro Ballet, a nonprofit dance organization and ballet affiliate of the Arts Council of Wayne County, will be presenting Love of Dance/Silent Auction at Wayne Community College's Moffitt Auditorium on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at School of Goldsboro Ballet or at the door. Jodi West will head up the silent auction along with John Beachem, both of whom are members of the group's board of directors. Scott Gibson services as president of the organization.

The program will include new works that have been created exclusively for Goldsboro Ballet.

"Degas Waltz," created by Peggy Wingate and Kashka Pickett, will feature the Support Dancers.

Fleming Lomax, Director of Asheville City Ballet and a former Goldsboro dancer, created "Morning Mist" for apprentice dancers and "Ballet and Beyond" for Company, which is a ballet/modern piece.

Jen Guy, from Elon College's dance staff has created "Day Dreams" for apprentices and "Atrappe" for the Company, both modern pieces.

Kashka Pickett of Alabama has created "Busy Town" and a series of pieces about Paris from the "Paris Suite."

Abbi Davis, an honorary dancer from Goldsboro Ballet has choreographed and taught "Perfect Day and The Potter's Hand" for the apprentices. Paige Stewart, a teaching fellow, recently graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill, taught "I Hope I Get It" from Chorus Line. She is also an honorary member of Goldsboro Ballet.

Mary Franklin, assistant director, taught a ballet to Bella from "Transformers" and helped Director Peggy R. Wingate create "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee," a liturgical piece that can be performed in the church setting.

Wayne Community College has been enjoyed by the community of dancers, families and friends of the ballet for the ease of parking and the spacious atrium to display the silent auction. The public is invited to come out and enjoy the dances created to show the many talents of the ballerinas. Help the ballet with their annual fundraiser.

All proceeds from the eventy will be going to help defray the expenses of "Nutcracker 2009," which is scheduled to be presented to the public and private schools on Dec. 4, then open on Saturday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 6.

A performance of "Mary Poppins," on March 1-14, 2010, will round out the season.
