Hurricane season is already halfway over, but people still need to be prepared for one anyway.

To help, the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a hurricane preparedness day Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Berkeley Mall.

Staff will be on hand at four tables around the center stage area to answer questions and hand out literature. Visitors will also be able to spin the Storm Wheel, answer questions about hurricane preparedness and win prizes.

In addition, anyone who wears a dominate piece of red clothing will receive a free Red Cross T-Shirt (while supplies last).

There will be drawings for mall certificates.

"We are holding this to help educate the public on what to do in case of a hurricane and to remind them of how it has affected us all in the past and how to be prepared," said Tammy Forrester, Red Cross health and safety director.

Staff manning the tables will be Chuck Waller, Samia Garner, Ms. Forrester, Herminita Harris, Roberto Mendoza, Alice Green, Audrey King, Charles King, Jim and Linda Huskins, Bethany Perry and Teresa Williams.
