Home invasion
A Holloman Lane home was invaded and robbed on Tuesday night just after 9 p.m., according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. Osbeldo Velasquez, 38; Otonial Perez, 37; and six children aged 6 through 13 were the victims in the invasion, according to the report. The family reported that five black males pulled up in a green pickup truck, knocking on the door and saying "It's the police," before forcing open the door and entering with handguns, according to the report. The children were reportedly forced to lie on the floor while the men asked for the location of a safe, the report shows. A 13-year-old girl who lives in the home said there was no safe, and offered the men the money from her purse. Both Velasquez and Perez were beaten about the head with handguns, officials said. One of the five black males allegedly had a vest with the word "Sheriff" on it, and a badge of some sort hanging around his neck, the report said. The suspects were wearing dark clothing and masks.
Man shot
Akil Fussell, 26, of Beal Street was shot in the leg while coming home from a grocery shopping trip on Tuesday night shortly after 9 p.m., Goldsboro police reported. Fussell said he accidentally stepped on a man's shoe in an alley behind his apartment complex. Fussell said he apologized, but the man became angry and followed Fussell and he shot him in the leg, police said. The suspect is described as a black male, around 20 years of age, 6 feet tall, about 160 pounds with a slim build and wearing a white T-shift, according to the report.
