The first annual Miss Goldsboro Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Lane Tree Golf Club. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Miss Goldsboro Scholarship Association, a preliminary to the Miss America Scholarship Program.
The event kicks off with registration and lunch to start at noon, and will be followed by shotgun at 1 p.m. The cost is $75 per player and $300 for a four-man Superball team, which includes two mulligans. The first-place winners will take home a $400 cash prize and the team finishing in second will take home a $200 cash prize.
"We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and volunteers who support our local program," says Jay Sauls, Executive Director. "Proceeds from events such as this provide scholarship monies for area young women to further their education."
Since the early 1940s, Miss Goldsboro has served as a community service ambassador and role model for children. The Miss America Scholarship Organization has awarded over $45 million in scholarships.
Under the direction of Kate Daniels and Jay Sauls, the local preliminary is comprised solely of volunteers. All proceeds go to the contestants.
