A Goldsboro woman was charged with driving while impaired after colliding with the front of a Berkeley Boulevard restaurant on Monday afternoon, authorities said Tuesday.
Nancy Marie Klemmer of River Bend Road also faced a charge of damage to property for running into El Korita Family Mexican Restaurant around 1 p.m., Goldsboro police said.
Damage to the restaurant's north-facing side was estimated at $4,500, Goldsboro police said.
Ms. Klemmer was apparently in a parking space outside the restaurant and trying to back out of the spot.
The woman told Goldsboro Investigator Bryant Canady she put the vehicle in drive instead of in reverse, causing her 2003 Ford to hit the building, according to a report.
According to the accident report, police estimate the vehicle was traveling about 18 mph when it hit the building.
Police estimated Ms. Klemmer's vehicle also suffered about $1,000 in damages.
