Four health care technicians at Cherry Hospital were treated for minor injuries after an incident with an "aggressive" forensics patient being admitted on Friday. The patient was subsequently transferred to Butner, state officials said.
Brad Deen, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, said the workers were treated mainly for cuts and bruises following the incident, which occurred around 8:30 a.m. Friday.
As of noon that day, Deen said, the patient had been transferred to the forensics unit at Central Regional Hospital in Butner.
"One patient did get aggressive in the admissions area," Deen confirmed. "Four health care techs restrained the patient and complained of minor injuries -- one had a cut, one said his right knee was injured and had an X-ray, and two others had pains in the knee and thigh (area)."
