Wayne Public Library erects job board

Wayne County's library has added yet another item to its ever-growing list of services offered to citizens, a job board.
The Goldsboro branch of the Wayne County Library system realized the need for a job board earlier this year as the unemployment numbers began rising and people came to the library asking for help with resumes.
"Some people have never written a resume, or if they have written one, it has been a long time," said Maegen Wilson, reference services. "The books and resources on our job table can help them get organized in their search for a job."
When people lose jobs they turn to libraries for free Internet access and books. In Wayne County, they can also find a resource center with aids to help them write the perfect resume, or get the right job for them.
"As the nation and the state face a severe economic crisis, public library use is increasing, particularly with people seeking help in finding employment," said Jane Rustin, director of the Wayne County Library system.
Libraries provide people not only with help in finding jobs, but also with basic computer assistance, help with resume building and career development.
Though the library may not be able to erase unemployment, staff members are hoping to be a bridge of hope for local citizens.
"We have some jobs posted on our board, but we are hoping that more businesses will contact us to list their jobs," said Ms. Wilson.
