Second suspect arrested in Goldsboro murder

The second suspect in the February shooting death of Barbara Ann Bandy has turned himself in, according to Goldsboro police.
John Oscar Mumford, 29, of Whitted Court, was being held without privilege of bond on one open count of murder.
Investigator Doug Bethea said police had reason to believe Mumford had been out of state, making it difficult to find him.
"Originally, we thought he went to Delaware, because he's got family from Delaware, plus the fact that (alleged accomplice) Anthony Jackson was caught in Florida," Bethea said.
Bethea and Sgt. Chad Calloway said Mumford showed up with his attorney at the Goldsboro Police Department around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
"When he shows up with an attorney, obviously the attorney is going to do his job and do the talking for him," Sgt. Chad Calloway said.
A first appearance is scheduled today in Wayne County Superior Court.
Previously, alleged accomplice Anthony Dwayne Jackson, of North Leslie Street, was extradited from Florida in March.
The two men were allegedly involved in the shooting of Ms. Bandy, who was sitting in a car outside her Leslie Street home on Feb. 24. She died about two days later.
