Businesses interested in learning how to conduct business with the government are invited to a trade show June 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Community Multiplex, 800 Corporate Drive.

Vendors will set up from 7-9 a.m. with a welcome and introductions following at 9 a.m. Presentations will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 9:55 a.m. The show will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

Show attendees are limited to government purchasers and registered trade show vendors.

Booths cost $200 for Wayne County Chamber of Commerce members and $300 for non-members. Each booth includes a table, two chairs, electricity and two lunch tickets.

In 2008, $16 million was spent by Seymour Johnson Air Force Base using the Government Purchase Credit Card and only half of that was spent here in Wayne County, Chamber officials said.

The Department of Defense has implemented new guidelines referred to as "Green Procurement." It refers to businesses that provide products and services that conserve resources, create less pollution and waste, or eliminate health and safety risks.

Some of the other products and services the government purchasers are interested in are: Welding consumable and non-consumable electrodes, new machine line up and capabilities/machining accessories and tooling products; mobile audio/video for teaching/briefing; products and software to make flyers/poster boards or sources that would do what a graphics department would; commercial grade floor cleaners; law enforcement equipment and supplies; physical equipment; lodging supplies; auto parts; fabrication; tree services; locksmiths; painters; promotional items; building supplies; and awards and trophies.

GSA contract holders are encouraged to participate. Approving officials, alternate approving officials and GPC cardholders, from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and the surrounding area have been invited.
