I-HOP to open in Goldsboro after Labory Day

A construction crew will break ground Tuesday to begin building Goldsboro's first International House of Pancakes.
The new restaurant will go up at 1100 N. Berkeley Blvd., the former location of the Berkeley Veterinary Clinic before it moved to Graves Drive.
The old building has already been demolished, and site preparations are currently under way for the new restaurant.
I-HOP franchise holder Richard Smith of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., said he expects construction to take about four months.
This I-HOP will look exactly like Smith's Knightdale restaurant. He owns several I-HOP franchises on the East Coast, including another North Carolina location at Apex.
He also is planning to open a restaurant in Cary.
The construction at the Goldsboro site had been slowed because of concerns regarding traffic and entrance rights of way. Those issues have since been resolved.
Smith said he expects to open the new Goldsboro I-HOP shortly after Labor Day with 50 employees.
