Fremont STARS Elementary School will host a fundraiser concert Friday night to help purchase new chairs for the school's auditorium.
"On Broadway," a showcase of performers singing and dancing to Broadway melodies, will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
Among those scheduled to perform are Board of Education Vice-chairman Rick Pridgen and his daughter, Alden Pridgen; Center Stage Theatre president Vincent Bridgers; Lisa Grant, East Carolina University musical theatre vocal instructor; Andrew Patzer; Kristen Prosser; Wesley Dills; Madeline Edwards; Paige Stewart; Crystal Hodges; and Fremont STARS music teacher Jim Grant.
"In recent years, Wayne County Public Schools has made several renovations to our auditorium, including a quarter million dollar air-conditioning project," said Sheila Wolfe, the school's principal. "This concert is a way for the community to help supplement additional improvements to our school. The money raised will benefit our students, parents, and the many community members who come out to our school to enjoy plays, concerts and other events that are held throughout the year."
