Buddy Shaw re-appointed to fire, rescue pension fund board

Howard "Buddy" Shaw of Goldsboro has been re-appointed by Gov. Beverly Perdue to the N.C. Firemen's and Rescue Squad Workers' Pension Fund Board of Trustees.
The appointment is effective July 1 and runs through June 30, 2013.
Shaw retired after 25 years with the N.C. Office of Emergency Medical Services including 10 years as the eastern regional supervisor for the office. Prior to that, he served as eastern regional coordinator for 15 years.
A former Wayne County Commissioner and Goldsboro City Council member, Shaw served on the Goldsboro Rescue/EMS for 28 years and was named a lifetime member in 1985.
He has been a member of the N.C. Rescue & EMS Association since 1960 and a lifetime member since 1985. He was elected as commander for six terms and served on the board of directors for 12 years.
Shaw has been a member of the Goldsboro Masonic Lode #634 since 1966 and the Wayne County Shrine Club since 1978. He has been involved with the Sudan Mini-Rigs for eight years, serving as captain in 1997. From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the Shriners' Hospital Board of Directors in Greenville, S.C.
He received the Goldsboro Jaycees' Distinguished Service Award in 1972 and was the club's Outstanding Rescue Person of the Year in 1978 and 1981.
