Man wins $1 million in lottery jackpot

A Goldsboro man apparently has won $1,000,000 in the lottery but either doesn't want to talk about it or can't be located.
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery Web site, Joshua Best of Goldsboro won that amount in the April 25 drawing.
A man who answered a call to the only Joshua Best who could be located in the city denied having won the lottery.
Subsequent telephone calls were not returned.
The Web site said Best had never played the lottery before, but that he had heard his co-workers talking about it, so he decide to try his luck.
He told lottery officials that he didn't know which scratch-off tickets to play, so he bought a Powerball ticket and chose his numbers based on familiar dates -- birthdays and his wedding anniversary -- along with a random number.
He bought the ticket at the Hasty Mart on Millers Chapel Road.
Best's winnings were $200,000, but he played the power play, which was five, increasing his winnings dramatically.
Pam Walker, a spokesman for the lottery in Raleigh, said Best had come to the lottery headquarters to claim his winnings but that she could not give out more information than had already been posted on the Web site.
She did say that after taxes, the prize would be about $680,000.
