SEVEN SPRINGS -- Authorities have found the body of Brian Matthew Davis, 21, who reportedly drowned Sunday night in the Neuse River while playing with a group of friends, Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders confirmed.
Davis, who reportedly could not swim, was found just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday, about 300 feet from where he was last seen.
The Cliffs of the Neuse State Park in Seven Springs has no designated swimming areas. State parks spokesman Charlie Peek said the river is deep and has strong undercurrents and numerous underwater obstructions.
Dive teams and cadaver dogs searched the river for days before Davis floated to the surface, authorities said.
