Runaway sought
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is looking for a teen who recently ran away from her Buck Swamp Road home. The missing person report said Ashlee Michelle Davenport, 16, recently ran away from home. The report noted that Miss Davenport does have a heart condition. Anyone with information about Miss Davenport's whereabouts is asked to call Detective Sgt. Tammy Odom at 580-4065 or the Sheriff's Office at 731-1480.
Shots fired
Several witnesses told Goldsboro police Saturday that shooters appeared to be trying to hit men who were hiding in front of a car parked at a residence on South Leslie Street. The bullets struck the house and Ada Thompson Coley's 2007 Toyota Avalon. Ms. Coley said she had parked the car outside the house where she was visiting the occupants. A witness said he saw a turquoise Astro van leaving the scene going north on Leslie Street. Damage to the car was $400. Damage to the house came to $135.
Armed robberies
*On Thursday afternoon, according to Goldsboro police reports, robbers kicked in the door to Claude Eugene Artis Jr.'s home on South Slocumb Street and took his wallet and contents, valued at $436. Artis said he does not know who the two black men were. One of the men flashed a handgun at him and demanded that he give them "everything." When he turned over his wallet, Artis said the men fled on foot going east on Pine Street toward Leslie Street. Both robbers appeared to be around 18 years old and 6 feet tall. The first man appeared to weigh about 180 pounds, while the other was thinner, appearing to weigh around 145 pounds.
*On Saturday, a man pulled a knife on Evelyn Braswell of Bain Street while she was cleaning a room at the Best Value motel at 701 U.S. 70 East and stole her jewelry, valued at $1,000, according to Goldsboro police reports. Ms. Braswell said the man first asked her if she wanted to buy any drugs, and then after she said no, and threatened to call police, the man pulled out a pocket knife and demanded her jewelry. She said the man fled on foot going toward William Street. Ms. Braswell described the man as black, appearing about 35 years old, 6 feet tall and weighing around 140 pounds. She said he was thin and had close cut hair.
Break-ins
*Mario Darrell Moses of East Stoney Creek Church Road reported to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office a break-in at his home in which $2,400 worth of items were taken, including a television, Playstation 3, a satellite box and clothing. The report said the back door appeared to be forced open.
*Eric O'Neil Sutton of Durham Lake Road, Dudley told Sheriff's deputies that thieves did $415 worth of damage forcing entry to his home and took items valued at $1,500, including a lap top computer, a still camera and a camcorder. The report said the door appeared to be pried open and the door knob damaged.
