Technology students win awards

Students from three area schools recently participated in the 30th annual North Carolina Technology Student Association state conference in Greensboro, bringing home several trophies and awards.
Norwayne and Eastern Wayne middle schools, and Eastern Wayne High competed against 700 students from across the state in group and individual events.
The Norwayne Middle chapter, with 11 students, brought home a first-place trophy and are now qualified to move on to the national conference in Denver, Colo. The June 28-July 2 competition will feature an estimated 5,000 students from the U.S., Puerto Rico and Germany.
Norwayne also won one of the state's most honored awards, TSA Chapter of the Year for Middle School.
Eastern Wayne Middle and Eastern Wayne High TSA chapters also won second and third place awards in the state competition.

Third place: Payton Anders, Cady Sheeks, Myra Waheed, Cierra Harris, Forrest Honeycutt, Addison Vail, Rebecca Pate, Jackson Yelverton, Cody Garris and Rachel Jackson.
