An 11:30 a.m. car fire spread quickly from one car to two others Tuesday in a parking lot off Berkeley Boulevard. All three cars were deemed total losses by the fire department.

Three vehicles were damaged in a fire Tuesday that spread from one car to two others in the Crossroads Plaza parking lot in front of Michaels on Berkeley Boulevard.

All three cars were destroyed, city Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters were on the scene six minutes after receiving the emergency call at 11:32 a.m. Thick smoke was pouring from the vehicles and drifting across the street.

Fire Department officials had not released a possible cause of the fire as of this morning.

Jorene Soose of Glenwood Trail owned the vehicle in which the fire started. It was deemed a total loss.

The fire spread from Ms. Soose's vehicle to one owned by Jennifer Johnson of Antioch Road that was also completely destroyed by the flames.

Finally, the fire spread to a vehicle owned by Jean Corbett, of Eleanor Drive, Kinston, whose car was also listed as a total loss.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but the damage had already been done. The value of the three vehicles was estimated at $28,600 by investigators.

No hazardous materials of any type were believed to have been released during the fire, according to the report filed by Capt. Frank Sasser and Capt. Durwood Smith.
