Sex assault under investigation
An alleged sex assault that reportedly took place while the victim was asleep is being investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. A 24-year-old woman reported that a man she knows sexually assaulted her at a friend's home last month, according to Sheriff's Office records. The suspect being investigated is a registered sex offender in Lenoir County, authorities said.
