R&O, Atherton Construction and The North Carolina Military Business Center are working in conjunction to support an "R&O and Atherton Construction Subcontracting Fair" Wednesday at Wayne Community College in the Wayne Learning Center from 1-5 p.m. Other sponsors of the event include the Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The 4th Contracting Squadron of Seymour Johnson AFB also will be available for small business counseling.

The fair will provide North Carolina businesses in the construction trades exposure to informational briefings and the opportunity to meet R&O and Atherton Construction about subcontracting opportunities on the Phase 8/9 Replace Family Housing and Wayne Manor Whole House Remodel at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

R&O Construction was recently awarded a $72 million project for replacing family housing at Seymour Johnson and is working in partnership with Atherton Construction as the prime subcontractor. This project includes demolition of 220 existing units and construction of 217 new units. Also, the company was awarded another $15 million project for 150 units.

As a component of the state community college system, the NCMBC helps state businesses get into or expand their footprint in federal government contracting, both as a prime contractor and subcontractor.

R&O and Atherton are looking for subcontractors with experience working on military installations, bonding capability in some trades, ability to maintain current insurance (general, auto, and worker's compensation), ability to meet installation access requirements for Seymour-Johnson AFB, capable of maintaining staffing required to meet scheduled deadlines, and financial capability to perform the work required.

Businesses must register online prior to the event. Visit www.ncmbc.us. The NCMBC encourages businesses interested in attending to review the Federal Construction page on www.ncmbc.us and register on www.MatchForce.org.
