Civil War period re-enactors will demonstrate how average soldiers and civilians lived Saturday and Sunday at the Bentonville Battlefield Historic Site west of Goldsboro.
The weekend marks the 144th anniversary of the battle, which was the largest ever fought in North Carolina.
Re-enactors will stage close-order drill and weapons demonstrations, as well as presentations on military uniforms and equipment.
Civilian living history demonstrations will include blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, candle making and natural dyeing.
Concessions will be available, with proceeds benefiting the Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department.
The site is three miles north of Newton Grove on Highway 701 and then three miles east on state road 1008. There are marked exits from both I-95 and I-40.
