Victim shot in leg
Carlos Bernard, 39, of Columbia, Md., reported a suspect shot him in the leg while sitting in his car on the street in the 700 block of Pineview Avenue, police said. Krisser Ayber, 19, of Edgerton Street was in the vehicle with him, police said. Police documented $500 in damages to a passenger-side front window and a bullet hole on the interior of Bernard's vehicle, police said. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt and carrying a .45-caliber chrome handgun, police said. The alleged shooter fled on foot, police said.
Suspicious fire
Goldsboro police are investigating an early Monday morning fire at 205 W. Oak Street in the city, police said. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, Fire Chief Gary Whaley told police that the fire required further investigation. A Goldsboro arson investigator has been assigned to the fire at the home, owned by 32-year-old Shawn Schroder, police said. The fire caused about $20,000 in damages, fire and police officials said.
