Goldsboro police and Sheriff's Office cars collide

Two law enforcement vehicles were damaged in a crash Tuesday night between a Wayne County Sheriff's Office car and a Goldsboro police car, according to a state Highway Patrol report.
Investigating Trooper J.B. Wiggs said that no one was injured and no charges are likely to be filed in the crash between Goldsboro officer D.A. Broughton and Wayne County Sheriff's Deputy D.J. Truhan around 8 p.m.
"No, there's not going to be any charges made. That's going to be because there's no clear-cut and substantial violation," Wiggs said.
Both vehicles were headed south on William Street, approaching Chestnut Street.
Truhan "attempted a U-turn, and the Goldsboro car and the Sheriff's Office car struck in the intersection of William and Chestnut streets," Wiggs explained.
Wiggs said he did not ask Truhan why he attempted the U-turn.
"It was just his wanting to go the other way," Wiggs said. "I can't tell you exactly (why) he made the U-turn, he's the one that decided to do it. I can just tell you he was attempting a U-turn."
He said he would not call either car "totaled."
"Both vehicles had to be towed, but neither vehicle was to be totaled," Wiggs said.
