Wayne GOP convention set for Saturday

The Wayne County Republican Party will hold its annual precinct meetings and convention Saturday at the Wayne Center at the corner of Chestnut and George streets.
Party members will hear from a number of guest speakers as well as elect delegates to the state and congressional district conventions and also will choose new officers to serve the local party over the next two years.
Precinct meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The convention will start at 10 a.m.
Among the guests invited to speak are U.S. Sen. Richard Burr, Congressman Walter B. Jones, state Sen. David Rouzer and state Rep. Efton Sager, as well as Freedom Works Director Allen Page and Kathy Hatkopt.
The state convention will be held June 12-14 in Raleigh.
