Arrest made in shooting, murder of city woman

One of two men accused in connection with the shooting of Barbara Bandy as she sat in her car outside her North Leslie Street home has been caught.
Goldsboro police said Anthony Dwayne Jackson, who also lives on North Leslie Street, was found after the investigation led them to Miami, Fla.
Ms. Bandy died about two days after she suffered "multiple" gun shot wounds, authorities said. Three other men inside the home, which was also fired upon, escaped uninjured.
Wayne County Jail officials said they have not received Jackson yet, and he is being held without bond in Florida.
Goldsboro police Sgt. Chad Calloway described the investigation.
"Just running down leads that we had come across," Calloway said. ""Just a lot of investigative leads led us to that area (Miami, Fla.) and they made the arrest."
John Oscar Mumford, the other suspect in the shooting, is still at large.
Mumford and Jackson also allegedly opened fire on the home at 304 N. Leslie St. Inside were Herman Hardy, 58, of North Claiborne Street, Jerry Spruill, 51, of Alabama Avenue and Leonard Broadhurst, 50, who lived with Ms. Bandy, according to reports.
Ms. Bandy, 42, died about two days later at Pitt Memorial Hospital after being transported there by medical helicopter following the incident.
Pitt Memorial staff entered Ms. Bandy into a private directory of patients, and did not make her condition available to neither the newspaper nor police.
Police later said Ms. Bandy was pronounced dead on Feb. 26 at about 12:15 p.m. after extensive treatment for her injuries.
Calloway said the Florida Department of Law Enforce-ment and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation assisted in Jackson's arrest.
Miami and Florida state authorities made the arrest about 1 p.m. Monday.
The police sergeant previously described the shooting as a disagreement among acquaintances, and said the investigation still points to that as a cause.
