Blackbeard, the famed pirate of nearly 300 years ago, will sail into Goldsboro Monday for a night of swashbuckling fun.
He will be at the Arts Council of Wayne County from 6 until 8 p.m. as part of Wayne County Reads.
Blackbeard, a.k.a. coastal resident Ben Cherry, will be on deck with his accomplice, a female pirate. Both will be dressed in pirate attire.
Through a storytelling presentation, they will weave yarns about pirates, especially Blackbeard, and women pirates. They will even perform some sword fighting.
"Ben is a walking, talking Blackbeard," said Sarah Merritt, the Arts Council director. "He lives and breathes this stuff."
Those attending are encouraged to don pirate garb. Refreshments will be served.
