Valentine's Day thieves sought
Police are looking for two unknown suspects who shoplifted a Valentine's Day card with sound, two chocolate hearts and 57 DVDs and set them outside the Spence Avenue Wal-Mart on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day.
A store employee said two men put the items in a gray plastic container, then took them through the garden center doors and outside. The suspects attempted to pick up the items after leaving the store through regular exits, according to the report.
The suspects are described as a pair of males, one white and one black, both in their 20s, who fled toward Royall Avenue in a black four-door Honda when confronted, police said. All items, valued at about $1,500, were recovered and returned, police said.
Neighbor hooks up illegal phone line
Robert Jennette of North William Street reported Saturday that a neighbor had run a wire from his telephone box into the neighbor's window. Police knocked at the door of the home where the wire had been set up, but there was no answer, according to the report. There were no listed damages or thefts, police said.
Armed robbery
Robert Georgi of West New Hope Road reported two black males knocked on his door and asked to use the phone on Sunday night. Georgi told the men he did not have a phone but would come outside to help them. However, the men stormed the house with guns out, demanding money, Goldsboro police said. Georgi tried to sit down, and one suspect fired a gun that went through his jacket near the bottom left pocket, according to the report. He was not injured, police said. Then, the suspect fired another round that hit a table in front of the couch. That bullet went through Georgi's pants leg, still not injuring the man, police said. One suspects is described as a black male, in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds and wearing a dark toboggan with a blue- or black-colored hooded sweatshirt, carrying a black semi-automatic handgun. The second suspect is described as a black male, in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with a medium build, a gold-colored jacket and a baseball-style hat, carrying a semi-automatic silver weapon.
