Goldsboro Parks & Rec upcoming events

Here's what's coming up in the Parks and Recreation Department this month:

*The Daddy Daughter Dance will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Herman Park Center. Fathers can spend a special night out with their daughters ages 4 to 12. The cost of the dance is $10 per couple, and $3 for each additional daughter.

*Also scheduled is the Black History Program, "Out of Africa, A Tribute to Gospel Music." The program will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Herman Park Center. The program will feature local artists performing songs chronicling gospel music from Negro spirituals, traditional gospel, contemporary gospel up to today's hip-hop gospel sound.

*Parks and Recreation is also gearing up for its trip to the Washington, D.C. This is a three-day, two-night trip that will include a guided sightseeing tour of the monuments and memorials, a performance at the Kennedy Center, two breakfasts, two full-course dinners and a Sunday brunch cruise. The cost of the trip is $490 per person, double occupancy, or $570 per person, single occupancy. A deposit of $200 is due by Feb. 27 with final payment due by March 27.

*On April 4, Walk It Out Goldsboro will be held at Stoney Creek Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be a fun and healthy event for the entire family with vendors, children's activities, entertainment and games.
