Police still seek shooting suspect

Goldsboro police are asking for the public's help for information in the shooting of Rakim Treme Boone, 20, shot while sitting in the parking lot of Creative Cuts on North George Street, police said. Boone was struck in the back by gunfire, according to police report. If you have any information, call Investigator Nelson Viera at 580-4212 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 735-2255.

Man hit with car, another assaulted

Two men were assaulted, with one hit by a car, in a family dispute, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. The Sheriff's Office said Jeffrey Deal, 23, was severely injured after William Hardy Smith, 57, hit him in the legs with the vehicle. Jeffrey Deal was transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital, according to the report. Police said Jeffrey Deal's father, Phillip Lynn Deal, 56, punched the 57-year-old's son, Andy Smith, 24, in the eye, causing swelling to the right eye, according to the report. William Hardy Smith, told a deputy he saw his son being assaulted by Phillip Lynn Deal. The 57-year-old told authorities he could not stop the vehicle in time, hitting Jeffrey Deal's legs, according to the report.

Man beaten

Christopher Schoot, 28, a homeless man from Goldsboro, said that two black males and two white males jumped on him and beat him up in the 600 block of North William Street, police said. Schoot, who suffered injury to his left side and had a scrape on his arm and clotted blood in his mouth, said he could not think of any reason the men would target him, according to the report.

Vehicle in pond

A vehicle reported stolen from Goldsboro was found abandoned at the edge of a pond on True Vine Road outside Pikeville, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported on Sunday afternoon. Daryl Anderson of Racetrack Road, LaGrange, said he found the vehicle on property he tends two days earlier, according to the report. The vehicle's owner is Michael Russo of Country Road, LaGrange, according to the report.

Safe stolen

Glorie Taylor of Denmark Street reported Sunday that her boyfriend entered her home, took a safe filled with cash and jewelry from an upstairs bedroom, and ran out the back door just after midnight on Sunday, Goldsboro police said.

Suspect caught in jewelry theft

Police say a North Pineview Avenue man is responsible for the theft of about $50,000 in jewelry from Gold & Diamond in Berkeley Mall, according to a news release. Antonio Montrell Moore was arrested at Best Value Inn and jailed under $50,000 bond, Goldsboro police said. Police recovered about $3,000 in stolen property, along with about $860 in seized cash, according to a release.
