Gaming conference set for Feb. 7 at Wayne Community College

Wayne Community College will hosts its fourth annual gaming conference next month, complete with video game tournaments, educational sessions and exhibition booths, as well as keynote speakers by industry experts.
The Phi Beta Lambda chapter will sponsor the Carolina Games Summit, planned for Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Insomniac Games' N.C. Studio Director Chad Dezern and Production Director Shaun McCabe will provide an in-depth look at the company's production philosophy and provide an overview of hiring standards geared toward students interested in working in the game industry.
Media Sunshine's founder and producer Heather Chandler and writer Rafael Chandler will present the lessons they have learned during their combined 22 years in the trenches of the game industry. The husband-and-wife team will also look at their upcoming projects, including the PlayStation 3 shooter "M.A.G. (Massive Action Game)" and the stealth-action title "Cipher Complex."
Organizers of the event said the event is a combination of fun, academic opportunities and career exploration that appeals to students, educator, professionals and aspiring game developers alike.
Attendees can participate in more than 15 sponsored tournaments and enjoy unlimited free play on full-size classic arcades as well as the latest consoles and computer gaming systems.
There will also be a student showcase room, giving budding game developers the chance to display their work directly to industry professionals, while the exhibition hall will be packed with industry and educational representatives.
