Theft

An estimated $1,425 worth of items were reportedly stolen from the Wayne County Animal Shelter on Clingman Street sometime between Dec. 1 and Jan. 5, according to a report filed by Wayne Benton with Goldsboro police.

Access was gained from the Brick Road entrance, Benton said. Among the items missing were an aluminum dog box, a three-compartment steel cat box and five metal pet carriers.

Accident

A Laurinburg woman was ticketed after she moved her vehicle ahead in traffic to make way for an oncoming emergency vehicle Saturday morning, and collided with another vehicle in an intersection.

Callie Nan Bustamonte, 37, was stopped at a traffic light at Royall Avenue and Jefferson Street when the rescue vehicle approached from behind with lights activated. Her vehicle received $2,500 in damages and a vehicle driven by Stephanie Devone Brewington, 46, Alabama Avenue, received $3,000 worth of damage. Ms. Bustamonte was cited for failure to see before starting.
