Man identified in Fremont animal cruelty case

Wayne County animal control officials have released the name of a Fremont man being sought after several dismembered animals -- as well as 26 living ones -- were removed from his home recently.
Lawton McKenzie, 28, is being charged with three charges of cruelty to animals.
Wayne County Animal Control director Justin Scally said Monday that when they entered the residence, they found dismembered animals, a machete, knives and bowls of blood.
Among the animals were a decapitated dog with its front paws cut off, a dog's head in a plastic bag, dead snakes, a dead turtle and a goat's head. Some parts had been cooked on a homemade grill.
Also rescued was a dying goat, which was later saved.
The case is still under investigation and more charges are possible, Scally said.
