Donations are being sought for the Edward and Cleo House Scholarship Fund.

Organizers of the scholarship seek donations twice a year, on the anniversarie of their birthdays, Dec. 25 and April 26.

Thefund was established in memory of the couple, who dedicated their lives to education and the youth of Wayne County, especially in the Dudley area.

The purpose of the fund is to provide emergency scholarship funding to students embarking upon degrees in education. Presently, the students must be connected to the St. John Baptist Church, Columbia, Md.

Contributions should be made payable to: EACH Fund, St. John Baptist Church, 8910 Old Annapolis Road, Columbia, Md., 21045

Many years ago, the Houses vowed to focus on helping black youths of the communities of Dudley and Goldsboro to prepare them to become productive adults and parents in societies throughout this great country and abroad. They were both devout Christians.

Together, Ed and Cleo House had extremely profound positive impacts on the lives of youths; their community and particularly black youths from 1931 through 1969.

"Coach" House died in 1960. Mrs. House passed away in 2006 after having moved to Maryland and continued her work with the youth in her community there.
