Police have reclassified a woman's death as a homicide after finding the 23-year-old victim at her Goldsboro home on Saturday night, police said.
Nidia Yubitza Carrera Solorzano was found in her apartment at 1904 N. William St., police Sgt. Chad Calloway said.
Police were not releasing much information about the woman's death early this morning as an investigation gets under way, the sergeant said.
"I think we're going to leave it, at this point, that she did die at the hands of another," Calloway said.
When Ms. Solorzano's body was found, police were not certain whether the woman's death was accidental or intentional.
"It is a homicide, and it will be changed to reflect that on paperwork," Calloway said.
Police were also working on the shooting of another man on Wayne Avenue early this morning.
Calloway said that investigators Dwayne Bevell and Nelson Viera had been assigned to work that case, but did not release the identity of the man early this morning.
"I can say that it happened. I know he's at the hospital," Calloway said.
