A Wayne County man was shot Tuesday night in what appears to have been a home invasion, Wayne County Sheriff's Capt. Tom Effler said Wednesday morning.
Effler said that Luis Muniz, 41, of 1113 Lanetown Road, was shot about 11:15 p.m. after two black males broke into his home located near the Greene County line.
The shooting is being investigated as an attempted murder and first-degree burglary. Effler said he did not have any information on Luis' condition.
The call to Wayne deputies originated from Greene County sheriff's deputies after they received a call about the shooting. Luis' home is located off Wayne Memorial Drive near the Greene County line, Effler said.
Lt. Shawn Harris responded to the call about 11:48 p.m. and is the lead investigator on the case.
One suspect, who had a handgun, is described as being tall and wearing a black and blue jacket. The other is described as being short and wearing a red jacket.
Effler asks the public to be on the lookout for the suspects. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
