Donations still sought for coat drive

Operation Transition, the non-profit group that provides assistance to women who are victims of domestic violence, homeless or making the transition from prison back into society, is still looking for winter apparel for its first coat drive in Wayne County.
The original deadline for dropping coats off was Friday , but organizers said they're willing to accept them up until Wednesday when they will be giving them out.
And, local organizers said, their efforts have been greatly enhanced by a local business -- that wished to remain anonymous -- that donated 300 brand new coats.
The coats will be given out on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. in the yellow room of the Herman Park Center, and anybody, said volunteer program coordinator Mary Mosley, can come get one.
"If we have your size, you're welcome to it," she said. "Anyone can come. The response Goldsboro has shown us ... I'm so proud of this community."
Coats and other winter clothing can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Herman Park Center or at J.J. Ashley Bakery on U.S. 70.
