Norwayne Middle School went into a brief lockdown Wednesday morning, but no students were involved and no charges filed, officials said.
Ken Derksen, public information officer for Wayne County Public Schools, confirmed that it happened before school started and before students arrived. An individual who "did not belong on the premises" wandered onto campus, he said, prompting the staff to alert the office and in turn go into lockdown.
Sheriff's Capt. Tom Effler said the office had no official reports about the incident.
Effler did say, however, that a law enforcement officer escorted someone off of the property of Norwayne Middle School on Wednesday morning before classes began.
The officer called Fremont assisted living centers to find out if he was a resident, but the centers said he was not, Effler said.
