Smart Choices for Youth and Wayne County Public Schools will team up this weekend to host the second annual "Youth Violence Awareness Summit," targeting gang and drug prevention.

Saturday's event will be 9 a.m. until noon in Goldsboro High School auditorium.

It is free and open to families across Wayne County, but registration is required by Thursday. Call 735-0008 for information.

The event will feature several presentations and programs aimed at helping Wayne County youth make positive life choices, including avoiding drugs, gangs and criminal behavior.

There will also be presentations made by the N.C. Gang Investigators Association and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
