A Wayne County Sheriff's Office patrol car struck a woman's vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 117 and U.S. 13 on Monday.
Cpl. Kenneth Grice will be charged in the incident, Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders said today.
"Apparently, what happened, was the officer (Grice) was passing a trailer, and apparently ran into a lady that was stopped," Winders said.
The sheriff said Grice would probably be charged with a safe movement violation or following too closely.
Winders said he did not believe Grice was on call at the time of the accident.
When Grice drove around the tractor-trailer, it blocked his view, Winders said.
"She had stopped in the road, but you still have to provide a cushion," the sheriff said.
