The Boys & Girls Club on Royall Avenue is now open every other Saturday.
Membership is not required to visit on Saturdays as long as you intend to join the club eventually, Teen Center Director Willemina Williams said earlier this week.
On Nov. 8, the club started opening from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday.
She said 35 teens came last Saturday.
"And as participation increases, we will go to opening every Saturday," she said.
To come to the club on Saturdays, do free play in the gymnasium, to join the Teen Center and to work out in the club's new weight room, you have to be between the ages of 13 and 18.
The weight room has two stair climbers, a Universal weight machine that works everything -- arms, legs and muscles you work when you do sit-ups and pull-ups -- and a "cybercycle" that simulates peddling uphill.
For members during the week, the weight room is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. A staff member who is knowledgeable about the equipment is on hand to help newcomers learn how to use it.
