Kenly 911 tapes sealed
Tapes of 911 calls made before a man was shot by Johnston County deputies have been sealed from the public by a judge, a Sheriff's Office official says. Superior Court Judge Tom Lock signed an order that prevents tapes of an incident involving Reggie Witcher, 54, who died after two deputies shot him on Saturday night, Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Tammy Amaon said. Deputies assert that Witcher shot at them before they fired their weapons in the incident, authorities said. Mrs. Amaon said that many news organizations had requested the release of the 911 tapes for publication or other use. On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Amaon released a statement detailing Lock's order. "The office of the District Attorney (Susan Doyle) requested the order, and Judge Lock entered it and the Sheriff's Office must abide by it," Mrs. Amaon said in the release.
