Dr. Scott LeFevers, left, Stephanie Rarick and Dr. Rick Stovall III provide dental care for one of the patients at the free dental clinic held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Harris Street Saturday. The portable free dental program offered services such as extractions, fillings and cleanings. The staff served more than 350 patients in the church's hall over two days, Friday and Saturday. Mrs. Rarick said this is the third year Stovall and St. Andrew's have hosted the portable clinic, which originated in Burlington. Titled "Missions of Mercy of North Carolina," the organization holds one or two clinics every month. Plans are for the clinic to return to Wayne County every November. The clinic this weekend provided $160,000 worth of free dentistry for patients who needed the procedures and could not afford them. "It was hard work but very rewarding," Mrs. Rarick said. "I can't stop smiling."
