Teacher named in CBA inquiry

School officials have confirmed that Charles B. Aycock High School teacher Lee Person has been placed on paid administrative leave following the opening of an investigation at the school by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.
Ken Derksen, public information officer for the school system, did not, however, officially link Person to the ongoing investigation.
"It's been handled appropriately. The students have been dealt with appropriately and in line with the investigation," he said. "It's a personnel issue, and we can't discuss a lot. We don't want to do anything that will impact the investigation."
Aycock principal Dr. Earl Moore also refused to comment.
Person has been on paid administrative leave since Sept. 30, and two weeks ago law enforcement officials were at the school conducting interviews.
Wayne County Sheriff Carey Winders has said that there is no threat to student safety, but has refused to comment further on the investigation.
"We're not releasing anything on it. The SBI told us not to release anything," Winders said.
Calls placed to the SBI were not returned by press time.
